WOWT Post-Game Video Causing Quite A Stir

Video shot by WOWT-6 as Nebraska Coach Bill Callahan and Defensive Coordinator Kevin Cosgrove walked off the field from Saturday's 76-39 loss to Kansas is creating a ruckus among some Husker fans.

"I don't want to start anything but look at this piece of video," said WOWT weekend sportscaster John Chapman during Sunday night's early and late-evening newscasts.

The video (available on WOWT's news clips on demand section) shows Callahan and Cosgrove walking toward the camera after the game. The next shot is that of Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne, who is seen watching the pair - and a host of players and staff members - walk past. The actual moment when Callahan and Cosgrove pass directly by Osborne is not shown.

The video led to a five-page thread on Huskerpedia.com.

Whoa. Callahan totally disrespected Osborne. He's been here long enough to realize there's some things you just don't do. Stick a fork in him, he's done.

I dunno. I watched it several times and read 8 pages worth of that Huskerpedia thread and I'm not convinced.

Gotta love Chapman and his prefacing the clip with, "I don't want to start anything, but..."

I'm sure someone will ask Callahan about it in the Tuesday conference. Until then, no one knows for sure.

maybe Callahan was in a hurry to check on the status of Jim Rose?

Looks like a good editing job to me.. How can you tell if Callahan actually SAW Osborne. You can't because six edited the video.. trying to stir stuff up...

@ 8:04 AM...indeed, it wasn't one continuous shot and that is why I have my doubts.

Sure, one COULD interpret it as the coaches not acknowledging Osborne.

At the same time, Sean said it in his post..."The actual moment when Callahan and Cosgrove pass directly by Osborne is not shown."

I know. Trying to stir up stuff. Outrageous.

They've got people all fired up...People are now talking like they are expecting Callahan to be fired or something.

This is 6's way of getting a "scoop" based on the interview Schuetz(sp) had with TO last week. It is clear in the video that you do not see them pass TO and when you see TO turn, you lose Callahan and Cosgrove is hard to see. Now, if TO called out to Callahan and he ignored him... It does appear TO did say something to someone.

Oh goodness. I'm loving this little soap opera. I can almost visualize the melodramatic previews on the local news stations:

"Tom Osborne has returned...His dynasty in ruins...An evil empire on the verge of destroying everything...Will the forces of darkness prevail?

Only two new episodes left until the explosive season finale!! And...trust us...you don't want to miss the last five minutes!"

Bill Callahan, for God's sakes man, what is your problem?! The Nebraska Constitution clearly states that while in the presence of Tom Osborne, you kneel and kiss his ring.

If, when you approach him, he is busy turning water into wine, you wait until he's finished and then kneel.

Billy C probably thought he was dealing with Al Davis and thought it was no big deal since Al isn't aware of his surroundings anyway.

Once he realized the error of his ways, I'm wondering if he had someone start his car on Monday morning for him, just in case.

10:07 pm - Too bad we won't know the conclusion until the TV writer's strike is over...
