Calvert Collins Headed To Vegas
Former KPTM reporter/anchor Calvert Collins will soon be joining the Eyewitness News Team at Las Vegas CBS affiliate KLAS.
According to a KLAS station memo, Collins will begin her new job Nov. 12.
The University of Missouri graduate was terminated in June after an MSNBC investigation linked her name to a list of reporters nationwide who made monetary contributions to political campaigns.
Collins said her father made the donation in her name to Jim Esch, who lost the Democratic House race to Republican incumbent Lee Terry in 2006. Several months before the MSNBC story, Collins posted a picture of her posing with Esch on her Facebook page.

Wonder which of the Nevada congressional reps she'll start cozying up to first.
Can't wait for the pictures to come out...
Good Luck Calvert!!! :)
Calvert, it would be wise to lay low, and don't trumpet the new gig around Omaha too much. You got a great job, and that's a big "FU" to those that canned you...just leave it at that, and don't brag.(MEANING: this shouldn't have hit this blog)
you should know what your former bosses are capable of, and learn from your mistakes. Be humble and you will go far! Congrats!
You assume Calvert was the one who gave it to Sean. Maybe she was I don't know, but it's pretty hard to keep anything quiet these days. It would have eventually made it into cyber-gossip land.
Congratulations Calvert. Good Luck to you.
Calvert in Vegas. Hmmmm. Could be a perfect match. And if it doesn't, plenty of other "ranches" she can go explore.
How much did her daddy pay to get her this job? She set young female reporters back 2 decades in this town. She is a perfect example of someone who is in television to be on TV and be seen, not to be a journalist. I would bet the other female reporters in town offered to help her move, so the image of the rich daddy's little girl can go away.
I am a long-time member of the local media and she makes me sick - plenty of money in Vegas sweety - don't spend all of daddy's money in the casino.
Congratulations to Calvert! She'll do great with her new gig.

It's tragic you're so bitter about young reporters because wake up, that's reality. Just because Calvert was young didn't mean she was a bad reporter, she made a few mistakes just like the rest of us, so cut her (and the the rest of the young uns) some slack. I know Calvert well, and know she got the job on her own (the same way the rest of us got our gigs) and she'll do great in Vegas. While she might have reason to be angry at some Fox-ers, she's not and has moved on. So, good luck Calvert, I know you'll go far!
CD
Good luxk Calvert. Ironic, KLAS is a Journal station. Duct-tape 42's loss is their gain.
Shouldn't that be "Good luck Calvert. I know you'll go down!"
Is it true that Paul Baltes and Brian New are both leaving channel 6? Where are they off to?
good luck calvert..ill never forget our nights by the fire..
her 1980 Farrah Fawcett hair and fake boobs will take her far in sin city!!
*perk* boobs?
CD,
I have nothing against young reporters, just ones like her who care more about what their hair looks like on TV. If you haven't figured out that she isn't worth a damn, then you are not much of a journalist yourself.
Good luck, Calvert! Vegas is a great city and I'm sure you'll do well. I know other people who work at tv stations out there and they tell me it's a fun town to work in.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems as though only the talentless survive that place. At least Calvert brought us someone interesting to watch.
Good luck Calvert. Just remember....
"What happens in Vegas..Stays in Vegas!"
(Just a little advice so you don't show up on the media blog again).
Dear 7:34...aka Amanda Mueller. You're one to talk about daddy's money! Find a better way to express your jealousy rather than claiming one individual has set female reporters back. Maybe go buy yourself a new Volvo and make yourself feel better. You're right I'd feel sick too since Ms. Collins moved up to a better market and you're stuck in broken-down Fox 42. Enjoy your Pappas contract:)
Hey Sean... quit sucking up to "Newsblues". Isn't it bad enough you air peoples laundry in Omaha.
Dear 8:06,
I'm a male (and not Amanda), but I totally agree with that too - funny shit.
You know what's really funny is that she's taking her ex Todd Andrew's brother with her. Would you want your brother's sloppy seconds especially those sloppy seconds...gross!
9:42 A.M. you're right! Paul Baltes and Brian New are leaving WOWT. Brian New is going to Texas and Paul Baltes is taking a job over at the Nebraska Medical Center. Good luck to both of them!
Calvert will be doing two shows nightly at the Rio within 6 months. Go ahead and bet the house on that...
3 shows on Saturday and Sunday nights.
3:54 A.M. thanks for the update. Is Brian New staying in TV? Or is he getting out of the business too?
I'm sorry, but everyone who is sitting here bashing Calvert is jealous! Yes, she came to the Omaha market right out of college, she is very involved in the arts and community. I'm sorry your lives are so pathetic you have to come on here, and bash someone who we all know does have talent. Come on, if she didn't, you think she would've landed the gig in Vegas?!?! Yeah, that's what I thought. I know Calvert will do amazing, and the best of luck to her on her new endeavor!
7:33 is right. Leave Calvert alone. It's not her fault she was born a talentless, useless, waste of good air bimbo with the morals of a doorknob. You can only play the cards the good lord gave ya' to play.
Does anyone remember Calverts first live shot? When the paper mill was on fire. Hilarious.
I agree with you 7:33 if by talent you mean having a rich daddy with connections.
Las Vegas is lucky to have Calvert. She is a very talented reporter, and I know that she really has a passion for her job. I had the pleasure to know Calvert and to talk with her frequently during her time in Omaha. I know that she will do an amazing job. Good luck Calvert!
To answer 12:57's question, Brian New is staying in the business. He took an investigative reporter job at the CBS station in San Antonio. Good luck to him.
