KOPW Jock Scores Ultimate Fighting Upset

Houston AlexanderKOPW (106.9 FM) on-air personality Houston Alexander, who goes by “Strong Arm” on his “Sunday Night Raw” program on “Power 106.9” scored a first round upset in his bout of the Ultimate Fighting Championship 71 on Saturday.

Alexander, who is known as “The Assassin,” knocked out Keith (The Dean of Mean) Jardine with an uppercut that sent the 4-1 favorite’s mouthpiece flying just 48 seconds into the bout that was televised on pay-per-view. Afterwards, Alexander credited his coaching staff and a series of fights against larger opponents for the victory.

“I just came from a heavyweight tournament where I was fighting guys who were 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds,” Alexander said. “This guy was my size.”

Though he was making his UFC debut, Alexander has more than 200 fights over seven years to his credit.

I've see Houston in action as a motivational speaker to kids through his radio gig. Great guy... not bad look either! I'm glad he is doing well in this growing sport. And DANG! Did you see Liddell get K.O.ed in less than two minutes!

How'd ya like to be the PD negotiating with him on his radio contract? LOL "Six weeks of vacation a year? Sure, whatever you say!"

I was in Vegas for this fight and i was impressed with Houston for two reasons...in the ring he's AWESOME...and out of the ring, he is truly one of the nicest, most genuine people I've ever meet. There are great things in the works for this Gentleman...and he is most deserving of them all.
