Another Day, Another UNL News Conference...

At least this one falls within the time slot of a regularly-scheduled newscast.

Updated at 6:30 p.m.
A few coverage notes:
- KMTV missed a few seconds of opening remarks while airing another story. The station was the only one to provide continuous coverage through to 6 p.m. (completely covering up the CBS Evening News)
- KETV had a lower-third super that read "Osborn" at the start of the press conference.
- WOWT had Johnny Rodgers on set for the second straight night afterwards.
- KPTM did not broadcast the press conference.

Yeah! Now we can watch an old has-been destroy the once mighty Red.

You know, Dave Webber may very well be the nicest guy in the world. But I've noticed that if he doesn't have a teleprompter, he's pretty much befuddled. He spends half the time trying to think about what he says

Did Johnny mention anything about his pardon? Maybe Osborne can put in a good word for him now.

Oh yeah, did Johnny happen to mention his new bar by chance too?

Maybe they should have done a remote from the Scarlet & Cream Letter Club to get customer reactions?

Oh wait a minute.....they're now closed.

So let me ask this. Basically all they've really done is change who is the Athletic Director? Does this mean we're still going to lose by 40 points this weekend?

We can't expect change right away. They also say that this happened for other reasons, not cuz of how Nebraska is playing this year, but I'm sure that has a big impact to it.

Did anyone notice that Dave Webber was almost bawling when he was speaking about Osborne healing the program? Dave, buddy, it is only a game. Of course...now that I think about it...about the time time it was announced that Osborne would be interim AD, the sun began to shine. Hmmmm......

You know what? I am sick of hearing from or about Johnny Rodgers. You were a good football player back in the day, but that was back in the day. Stop trying to get on TV to plug your book or bar. No one cares about a washed up felon football player.

Wait a minute...he's asking for a pardon...

So much for the Nightly News. Did anything happen outside of Nebraska last night? Talk about a complete news blackout. And I know there will be a bunch of these "newsies" tell me I am criticizing them when they don't have news and then when they do; but the fact remains that this should have been relegated to the local news. At 5:30 PM you should have went to the national news. Oh wait a minute...that just gave them something to use as filler for their 10 PM casts. Silly me.

That's so funny. I was watching this whole Osborne business with a friend and I said, "Do you realize the entire Executive Branch of the government could have been killed 30 minutes ago and we won't know about it until after this press conference"

So, old Johnny Rogers is looking for a pardon.

I expect he should go before the governor and say, "I beg your pardon".

Get it??? "Beg your pardon" A ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Woooooo. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!

As long as they quit interrupting my soaps, they can hold as many press conferences as they like.

I mean, for crying out loud, John Black is gonna die this week after being on that show for 22 years. There will be blood spilled if they interrupt that!

Is Dave Webber gay?

We now interrupt this program for this special news conference sponsored by Jet's Sports Bar.

Hands off Web's...he's mine.

You can have Webs. I'll have me some Rossy!

Osborne's back...and the peasants danced.

Johnny The Jet's new place is at 33rd & Harney, I believe. Just down the street from Channel Sux.

Yes, thank you 12:47

Osborne's back and the peasants danced, when they weren't laughing to hard or reeling from the pain...and (for a couple days) there is no shame.

For those who don't think it is news...how much money does this program generate for the state every year? Millions. It is a multi-million dollar business that happens to have more people care about it than a bake sale at St. Cecilia. Deal with reality people, not what you want reality to be.

Bitter much...

10:40 AM:

I am not saying that this wasn't news; I am saying that it did not warrant the hours and hours and hours of coverage that were given to it. Thanks god for the Centers for Disease Control and the staph infections so now we can ruminate and fear monger on something else for a few days.
