New GM at WOWT-6

We don’t have many details, however, Omaha's WOWT-6 did say that a new general manager, Charlie Peterson, will be at the station as of Tuesday, Oct. 16. She will take over as the station’s new GM.

Peterson, who has previously been the general manager at KKTV in Colorado Springs, Colo., replaces retiring Frank Jonas.

KKTV and WOWT are both owned by Gray Television.

More details to come.

We now have two female GMs at local stations (six and seven). We've come a long way since Donna Meyer and Carol Scott!

Whatever happened to the good ol days when women knew their place in the newsroom...in front of the green weather screen, giggling, and wearing a sweater two sizes too small. Oh wait...Andrea(s).....back to you.

I'm a believer in Karma. So this woman must have done something really, really, REALLY bad to get hooked up with WOWT.

Best of luck to the new GM... It's like changing the captain on the Titanic. "The ship is sinking captain, what do we do?"

Are you sure it's WOWT and not COX?

Hopefully this woman's IQ isn't above 90, or else she'll never fit in!!

I guess this is what you call Diversity. But I though Diversity was an old, old wooden ship used in the Civil War era.

How did Peterson/Paterson get her job. Any telltale (Monica like) stains on her dress?

Charlie has been associated with Gray Television and predecessor companies for many years. She joined WEAU-TV in Eau Claire, Wisc in the mid 80s after George Gillette bought the station and Larry Busse was Gillette's general manager for all stations in the group. When Gillette bought KOLN/KGIN in Lincoln, she moved there to be promotions manager. Frank Jonas was the GM at 10/11. The stations were transferred from Gillette to a trust and re-named Busse Broadcasting. Busse, by the way, had been GM at WEAU years earlier. She moved back to Eau Claire to be GM at WEAU and last year moved to Colorado to be GM. WEAU and KOLN/KGIN were bought by Gray which was expanding quickly. Be ready, boys. In Colorado Springs, Gray sent in consultants and it ended with Charlie firing all the news anchors but the sports director.

Do you think we can make her general manager of the Husker football team?

Her job might be different here, as she tries to keep the Mt. Rushmore of Omaha News teams together long enough to rake in more high ratings. Her previous house cleaning and the dramatic ratings drop for Attack 3 News after Greg and Deb left shows change isn't always good.

Now for the huskers, maybe it would be.
