No Pie In The Sky For Radio Guys

Omaha RoyalsThe Omaha Royals baseball team is inviting fans to cast their vote for which local radio personality should get hit with a pie in the face later this season.

The four personalities up for the honor are: Tom Becka (KFAB 1110 AM), Kevin Kugler (KOZN 1620), "Glennboy" of KSRZ (104.5 FM) and "Big Party" of KQCH (94.1 FM).

The promotion is a spin off of the club's stunt at the home opener where team mascot "Spike smashed a pie in the face of Royals President Alan Stein. The "lucky" winner will get a face full of cream pie from Village Inn later in the "2007 Fun For Everyone Season presented by Werner Enterprises." Click here to cast your vote.

Not exactly the who's who of radio. Kugler has talent and is good to listen to (then again I can listen to sports radio all day). I think Glennboy and Becka have a pretty good following.

By the way, how old is Big Party? Isn't he just a tad old to have a nickname as a first name?

What is the who's who in radio today? Todd and Tyler? Jim Rose? What qualifies someone as the who's who in Omaha radio? And would someone want to be part of the who's who in Omaha radio?

I'll cast my vote for "Mookie" on The Brew.

It's nice to see some radio competition. Something to maybe make someone talk about a local station. Perhaps we could let people know that not everything is voice tracked or syndicated. It may be a little minor league but it is something to have some fun with.

Do you think you have to be in LA or NY to have good radio, 8:32? Are Todd n Tyler good radio? Considering the number of people that listen to them I'd say yes.

Gives all to meaning to a face made for radio.

TNT would have been involved, but "The Empire" is too busy throwing out the first pitch at a Wichita Wranglers game.

Ohhhhhh, Aaaaaaaaadrian Fiala!

Vote for Kugler.

I vote for Bill Jensen.

Oh wait...

So, I voted this morning for Kugler and saw that Becka was up pretty big. I looked again this evening and it seems Big Party has some time on his hands because the number of votes for him doubled in less than 10 hours. It's a sad day when a 40 year old man has to sit at his computer and click re-load for himself!

Unfortunately I think you are correct, 7:58 PM. It looks like Old Party added about 700 votes in one magical day! It must have been a coincidence...right?

TNT are way to negitive.. they had to become syndicated to keep their listeners from dropping.... once you would think they could just be happy about something that they don't agree with..

Anonymous said...

too negitive

And yet; they are still number one. Says something doesn't it? Go TnT!

Anonymous said...

Yeah - it says how pathetic the state of taste in radio is in Omaha these days.

Go away TnT...

It has nothing to do with Omaha's taste in radio. There are guys like these two that get great ratings all over the country. Whatever sells I guess.

C'mon...join the TnT bandwagon. These guys are pretty funny. There has been nothing else on the radio in Omaha like them. Besides, look at all the interesting people they bring on; Larry the Cable Guy, Jack Hanna, Dr. Ed, Joe Biden, etc. These guys are good.

They WERE good.

The act was already getting tired and then the "empire" started.

Nothing like a "local" Omaha radio show now trying to be a "local" Omaha/Springfield/Wichita show.

YAWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNN!

And yet still people listen. If you don't like it; use the "off" button. No one forces you to listen.

Anonymous said...

No..I force people to listen..I break into your home..and tie you to chair and force you to listen

Radio guys shouldn't be allowed to have their pictures taken. It's always a disappointment to see them. They are always very ugly men. Look at the four guys for this promotion. The only one slightly good looking is Kevin Kugler (you can tell it's a bad pick of him). The other three are hideous! I've heard Todd n Tyler are gross. Good thing I'm into women!

I stopped listening to TnT a looooooong time ago. Right about the time their one-trick pony left town...about year 3-4, I believe it was.

Omaha radio is a vast, empty, talentless wasteland, thanks to corporate whores like Journal, etc.

@ 4:04 PM - At my last job, I worked in the old Z-92 building off of 108th and L when TnT used to be there. I'd seen one of their commercials (the one where they're "larger than life" and walking through the city or whatever), but when I happened to see them going in or out of the building, I was reminded why they're on radio and not TV.

Butt ugly is a mild description. Ha ha.

"Butt ugly is a mild description."

And it doesn't even BEGIN to describe the quality of their show these days...

4:04pm - I agree... Kugler has that shaggable next door neighbor soccer dad look.

Anonymous said...

Yet TnT are still number one in the mornings. They must be doing something right.

Anonymous said...

Ummmm....noooooo....they're Number one because the quality of radio in Omaha is THAT FREAKING HIDEOUS!!!

Anonymous said...

Still number one and number one is still number one no matter how much you hate it.

Anonymous said...

Companies are paying big money to advertise with them I do know that. Rip T&T all you want, people love them.

Anonymous said...

Just because companies waste their money by throwing dollars at bad radio programming does NOT make the quality of radio programming better. All it means is that bad radio is being rewarded.

TnT cater to the lowest common denominator of listenership. That there are THAT many morons tuning in every morning doesn't speak to the quality of programming offered by TnT, but instead speaks to the lack of intelligence of the Omaha radio listener.

It's like covering a pile of dog crap (TnT) with rose petals (ratings/ad revenue). No matter how you spin it...it's still a pile of dog crap.

5:13 AM if you are that bitter about it, don't listen to them. Geez, you have an off button, use it. No one is forcing you to listen to them. And no matter how upset you get, they are still the top radio duo in town.
