Leftovers from the Laptop

BeaverHeadline on the front page of the Omaha World-Herald's College World Series special section Sunday: "Beavers by a hair."

NRG Media allowed competitor Journal Broadcast Group to purchase commercial time on its College World Series broadcasts to advertise Journal-owned KMTV (Cox Channel 5).

Congratulations to long-time World-Herald sports writer Stu Pospisil, who tied the knot Friday night.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association's decision to come down hard on journalists who blog at events (read what happened here) is also drawing the attention of columnists. Read what Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman thinks about it by clicking here (Registration may be required).

The Omaha World-Herald has added sign offs and byline information to its videos on its website. Watch Saturday's report by "videographer" Greg Cabrera by clicking here.

Congrats to Stu...and best of luck to Mrs. Pospisil in keeping him in line during basketball season.

And condolences to Stu's wife, who will spend 3/4 of the rest of her life correcting the spelling and pronunciation of her last name to everyone she meets.

What happened to Suzanne Deyo on the weekend broadcast on 7. Fubar Fazal was the anchor last night and was shown in the credits not Deyo. Is Fubar the new weekend anchor? Say it ain't so!!!!

Farrah took over on the weekends a couple months ago. Suzanne is just a part-time reporter now.

Farah has improved leaps and bounds since arriving in Omaha. She is actually getting much better.

I agree. Farah is good and definately not worth all the grief "Ted" at the old blog used to give her.

That 3rd grade PE teacher I-didn't-realize-she-was-lesbian deep voice still bothers me deeply.

IMHO, Fazal's delivery in deed has improved in recents months. BUT, c'mon! Look at how she started out here. My 10-year old daughter does a smoother read. The deeper-than-average voice and face that could scare small children would suggest she might have a brighter future as a writer/producer or editor. (Just a thought...)

Talk about the lesser of two evils. But I would take Farah every day of the week over that dreadful Suzanne Deyo. Have you ever actually looked in Deyo's eyes? I'm quite sure the woman is psychotic.

Why didn't somebody tell me she wasn't doing the weekend news anymore? Now I don't have to treat that program like a Smallpox epidemic.

Actually I can see development. This lady, once she cuts her teeth, is going to do very well despite what the naysayers might say.

I heard they're grooming her to be the next Pat Persaud...

Oh Good God. Maybe they can track down Pat Persaud's old milk crate that she used to stand on.

But then again, Pat would have to abandon her campaign to get her milk crate put on display next to Fonzie's leather jacket in the Smithsonian.

Is it impossible for most of you to say anything nice? Man, how pathetic your lives must be to focus on so much negativity.

Anonymous said...

Give us something positive to focus on instead. Something...Anything!!
