Clear Channel Replacing Bakers

Clear Channel Omaha Operations Manager Mitch Baker and his wife, Donna, who was the group's vice president and market manager, are out as of Monday. The two were escorted from the building this morning and a 4 p.m. staff meeting was announced.

Clear Channel's corporate communications director did not return phone calls, nor did Donna Baker or Dave Crowl, Clear Channel Radio Senior Vice President of the Midwest region, who is handling operations in the interim.

The Bakers had been at Clear Channel since June of 2003. Donna replaced Tracy Gilliam, who moved to Los Angeles.

According to industry insiders, the five stations in the Omaha cluster – KFAB (1110 AM), KXKT (103.7 FM), KGOR (99.9 FM), KHUS (93.3 FM) and KQBW (96.1 FM) were on target for budget projections.

Thank God for iPods...

Anyone have a Sprint phone with "Sprint Radio Premier"? It has a bunch of out-of-market radio stations now.

Radio? What's that?

Turn over in radio has always been a constant. There's no need to dis the entire industry because of a management change.

There is still good radio out there and there will continue to be no matter how many managers have come and gone.

Good Luck to Donna and Mitch.

For continuity's sake, they should replace Mitch Baker with Rob Baker. Now THAT'S a station I would listen to!

"There is still good radio out there and there will continue to be no matter how many managers have come and gone."

That's the funniest thing I've heard all week. You should go into standup. With the excessive FCC interference into broadcasting, it is nearly impossible for radio to continue to grow as a quality product. Either shoot straight or get your head out of the sand.

Why is it with Rado and Television when someone is fired or replaced or downsized, Its News..When Several people get let go at Bag N Save..No one knows except the people involved. No press releases no lies and no one escorted out the building.

Perhaps because radio/TV people are a little more well-known than the guy collecting carts at Bag & Gag. So it might be of interest to a few more people out there. YA THINK?

We call it Bag 'N Gag too...I don't make it a habit of shopping there, but I have a feeling that a few of those cashiers are on a poster somewhere, they can't be on a billboard it'd blow their cover.

I sorta hope that Fat Guy on the Brew ad stays..at least they used a good song, and...he dances quite well .

That would really be up to the employees to tell people about it.

Sort of like this:
