KFAB Interview: Hawkins Was Selling Drugs At School

A parent of a Papillion-LaVista South student and his daughter told KFAB Thursday morning that the Bellevue Police Department and Sarpy County Sherrif’s department did not act when presented with evidence that Robert Hawkins was selling drugs at school and threatening to harm them.

The student - “Mandy” (not her real name) – said she was an acquaintance of Hawkins and a close friend of Hawkins’ ex-girlfriend.

Mandy said she was threatened as recently as a month ago by Hawkins, who told her he was going to kill her and her family and burn their house down. Mandy said Hawkins accused her of stealing something from his car.

“I actually told him, ‘Yeah Robbie, I’d like to see you do that. I didn’t believe him,’ ” she said.

Mandy’s father, who was identified as “Bob” but said he has previously worked in law enforcement himself, was also part of the interview by Gary Sadlemyer and Scott Voorrhees. He said both law enforcement agencies ignored him because a Bellevue police officer’s own son was allegedly involved in the drug dealing at school.

“This guy (Hawkins) brings narcotics to Papio South every day and they're not doing anything,” Bob said. “The second time I went in there (to the police department), I told them I would give them until 4 p.m. Amazingly, I heard from a narcotics officer that day. But on our stake along, he could not go on without more proof.”

Is that Gary Sharpe from Lincoln the radio broadcaster?

I heard that and wondered the exact same thing!

The police report spelled it Gary Sharp

It was Gary Scharf...not Sharpe. Gary Sharpe is much younger and lives in the south.

I was chuckling at the lady on MSNBC yesterday talking to Tom Becka from KFAB. She kept calling it K-Fab. Does anybody here actually call it K-Fab?

Of course the kiler wasn't a good kid. Of course the killer was into drugs. How big of a ding bat must that woman letting him live in her house be. The night before the killing her sons and the killer were trotting around her house with an AK-47. You got young kids playing with an AK-47 in yur own house and you know one kid has had mental problems and still you dont see a potential problem. That woman is a ding bat and those boys were in charge at her house not her.

How many hours per day was this punk playing "Call of Duty 3"?

You all should stop blaming the cops for every thing that goes wrong. You can't accuse the Bellevue Police Dept of not acting. Those guys are as fine a police department as there is. They act on EVERYTHING. But they do it by the book.

I tried checking omaha.com for this story, but of course the Omaha World Herald website is still not up. Unbelievable they can not keep a very basic website up during breaking news in Nebraska.

Go to Ketv.COM

They always have the best coverage.

Thanks, Shiloh!

Hey, I like Shiloh. Quit picking on her.

It amazes me how shitty the World Herald website is. If there's any real news to look at around here, it goes down. How embarassing that the puny Journal Star down the road runs circles around the mighty World Herald. And, I've never seen it down.

Who's Shiloh?

It amazes me that KFAB lets you use profanity on their website. Sure says a lot about the station.

As for the World Herald, they should fire their webhosting for not being able to handle extra traffic. I'll be they're thinking about it, because this is a really bad time to be down. Talk about lost opportunity.

But the really horrible newspaper site is the Bellevue Leader. That homepage is the worst website I've ever seen. It's not had any downtime that I've noticed. Too bad, because it should.

All of the Suburban Newspapers website are horrible. Then again, they are a subsidiary of the Weird-Harold, thus the reason...

I challenge the assumption that selling or using drugs predicates the violence seen here... that said, precisely what the hell was this kid doing with an AK-47? I live in a place with pretty strict laws on weaponry... am I to assume that a guy can just go out and buy an AK in Omaha? Is nobody else appalled by that?

I'm appalled at the blame on the gun and the police. What a bunch of idiots to try and blame them. Blame the knothead who did the shooting. Also, I hate these attention wannabee's calling and wanting to get on TV/Radio about stuff that is not confirmed. Hence 1110 the next morning.
