KOZN Has Bases Covered For College World Series
KOZN (1620 AM), the ESPN sports radio station of Omaha, will also be the official station of the College World Series. Like it has in the past, “The Zone” will carry special pre- and post-game versions of its weekday afternoon “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” shows.
Mike'l Severe will host “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” with broadcasts beginning at 10 a.m. and leading up to the pre-game of that afternoon’s game, said KOZN producer Stacie McElligott. Kevin Kugler, the other half of the UC show, will handle play-by-play for all CWS games for the Westwood One Network. Joining him for all but the championship series will be Adrian Fiala, who will provide color. For the championship series, Fiala will be replaced by Jerry Trupiano, former voice of the Boston Red Sox. McElligott will produce all the CWS broadcasts for Westwood One.
KOZN will also be piped into the NCAA Fan Fest area outside Rosenblatt Stadium and its live broadcast booth will be on the west side of “Radio Row” outside the ballpark. McElligott said a number of guest co-hosts will join Severe throughout the CWS, including former Nebraska football player Damon Benning, KETV (Cox Channel 9) weekend sports anchor Matt Schick and Kendall Rogers of Rivals.com and RosenblattReport.com.

Well, that just sealed it for me. No need to take my radio with me to the CWS.
If Jim Rose isn't doing the games, then it's just not baseball for me.
Wow 8:16, I hope the sarcasm button was on when you typed that.
Why is Damon Benning one of the guest co-hosts? Could KOZN not find a former Husker (or even Creighton!) baseball player?
Sarcasm?
Why would I need to be sarcastic?
I mean what I say. No Jim Rose = No baseball.
We should always expect the best announcers for the biggest events. Nobody does it better than Rose. No one even comes close.
Rose is awesome when it comes to baseball!!!!!!!!!!
Ok Rose Stop self promoting here
I especially love it as the deep fly ball is rising towards home run distance and you hear Rose fumbling for his words as the crack of the bat interrupted his long-winded story about nothing remotely close to the game.
Then as the ball disappears behind the fence and the crowd is roaring, the Voice of the Huskers squeals like Kermit the Frog on estrogen and proclaims the hit "the greatest moment in the history of intercollegiate athletics at the University of Nebraska."
Too bad Kugler won't be contributing to the Unsportsmanlike Conduct broadcasts during the series. When Severe is hosting without him, it can be brutal. Toss in Schick's lame radio 'sthick' & out of towners who will hear 1620 at the Blatt will get a poor example of a usually good show......
Oh So you have heard rose before
Kugler's a tool. Someone please bring in Matt Perrault. Please!
Yes. By all means, YES!
We need Matt Perrault at the CWS. It would be perfect for all those Bostonians who will be in Omaha because Perrault doesn't know anything about baseball beyond the Bahston Red Saax.
Just so you Perrault promoters understand this...subbing your boy IN PLACE OF Kugler is NOT, I repeat, NOT, an improvement.
Perrault for Kugler is like subbing a piece of chewing gum for the drain in your tub to keep the water from draining out. A bad show for Kugler is still MILES ahead of Perrault's best effort.
The only thing that keeps Kugler's show from completely blowing Perrault out is the fact that Kugler is stuck with Mikey Severe, who needs to mix in more naps and fewer lunch breaks in between his KETV morning duties and his Zone afternoon blubber-fest.
Less Perrault means improved quality radio...something the Omaha market DESPERATELY needs right about now...
C'mon guys or girls...Perrault is the man. He is GOOD radio. Admit it. It's just this small town mentality that can't take someone bashing their beloved Cornsuckers.
6:47AM is correct. When I listen to sportstalk radio, I always tune into BigSports590 and Fox Sports Radio. Forget 1620, their local hacks, and BSPN Radion.

Cornhusker bashing? Who cares? I hate the skers and I still would rather listen to 1620 than Perrault.
Based on recent Arbitron ratings, the majority of the listening area agrees with me....
Well who can account for taste in this area. Todd and Tyler are also number one in their time slot.
Funny how this thread has been hijacked into a 1620 vs. 590 rant.
Bottom line is that Jim Rose is the best announcer in the state of Nebraska and should be doing the biggest event in sports (outside of Husker football) that this state has to offer.
Sorry Rose is busy looking at himself in the Mirror he won't be avaliable
9:32 - how much did Perrault pay you to post that?
And, for God's sake, TELL us he paid you in cash. If he paid you with a check, you'd better get that bad boy cashed in a hurry before it bounces right into outer spacer.
11:13 AM I could not agree more. Bring in Jim Rose, perhaps one of the greatest talents to grace local radio!
Absolutely. If you've heard a better announcer, I'd like to know his name. He's brillant, unassuming, humble, and is not at all a backstabber to anyone in the profession.
Sincerely,
Gary Sharp, John Bishop, Randy Lee, etc....
I believe the ratings speak louder than Perrault's Mom! Other than a few that you can count on your fingers (and the obigatory Ch. 3 losers that staff 590), a scant number of people actually listen, let alone KNOW who this guy is.
