KPTM Unveils New Site

KPTM-42 kicked off a new Web site on Monday. Webmaster Brian Mattix is responsible for implementing the changes at KPTM.com.

There is a new “Community Correspondent” link that KPTM News Director Joe Radske says is easier to use now, with new photo and video posting options.

“You can also send stories directly to our assignment desk,” Radske said. “And you can be a whistle blower if you want to remain anonymous.”

At least they are trying to be a full news station. Give them a break KPTM is the only news in town that does not have network like ABC CBS or NBC to lean on.

They actually are pretty darned good an give more coverage to local news with what they have than the other three stations combined. Kudos to KPTM.

Really cool website and they have the best sports coverage in town

To 11:53 a.m.: If KPTM doesn't lean on any national media, why is there so much FOX filler? Oh, never mind. I guess that answers that!

Thanks 3:25 PM (JJ) for that really cool post.

Looks aside, it's pretty hard to start calling them a credible news organization when there are 2-3 day old headlines on top of their site, even if it is the weekend. When im looking for news 7 days a week, I go to ketv's website.

The link goes to a picture of the website. That is why the headlines are old.

KPTM has improved leaps and bounds since first breaking the airwaves in 1991. The on air product is as good as any of the other stations in town with one heck of a sports cast. And no, this isn't an employee of KPTM posting. It is just a content viewer happy to see such a nice product coming out over the airwaves. By the way, the website is nice, too. Good job KPTM!

now if they can only start paying the staff wages higher than fast food workers..

Who cares if KPTM has a new website? It's going to be changing again soon... the Fox network has decided to take control of local affiliates' sites and has already registered myfoxomaha.com.

are you kidding me about ketv's web site? theirs is the WORST on the weekend!! and their weekend newscasts are straight out of the overnights!! let's be honest, the only web site that stays completely updated over the weekend is omaha.com.

I just went to check it out after reading this, and was actually impressed. There was quite a bit of interesting stuff there. I like that those guys do more than just chase ambulances and police cars all day long. The heartland proud stories are really good and the women matter page has some good stuff too. It actually feels like a professionally done website for a change. Kudos to them.

they are doing a series on Mr.C's Restaurant this month that I've heard from insiders is going to be just phenomenal. too good for local TV, even.

way to go KPTM! they went from having the worst news website in omaha (it looked like a little high school computer apps class put it together) to to being as good (or better) than KETV
