Can't We All Get Along?

Hello, everyone!

We wanted to post a quick note here on the response portion of this blog. You might have noticed a slight delay in your responses being posted. That's because we arranged so that the responses come to us first so that we can decide whether or not to publish them.

The only reason we did this was because there were some personal attacks, which we don't want here. And some people have been using naughty language.

It's a pain in the butt to do it this way, so we'd like to go back to the old system.

Can we trust all of you not to make personal attacks and to use responsible language?

If not, we can just eliminate the response portion, which we would hate to do because it's a cool part of the blog.

Thanks for your cooperation and please keep enjoying the City Weekly Media Watch blog.

Did Matt's mom complain again?

It will never work. The only reason this blog, in any of its incarnations, exists is so members of the local TV stations can snipe at one another safely and ad nauseum.

Your only recourse would be to eliminate the comments entirely. But if you do, noone will read it.

you expect to trust people on the net...LOL

its to bad people have ruin things for others....

Its your world but don't you find it interesting that when Marlon Lucky was having his issues, the media had a right to know everything about what happened that night, in Matt's words that is, but, a published story about two public figures and Matt wants everything retracted and no one in the world to talk about it.

Uh..no. Live by the word, die by the word Matthew.

Ummmm, this blog is boooorrrrrinnnnng now. Pick up the posts about about actual news folk as opposed to the kxvo/traffic girl/car pitchers. You should be making the big boys squirm, not advertising for the wannabes that no one has heard of or cares about.

Well, I guess it's official; the 1st Ammendment doesn't apply to the Internet. On a serious note, c'mon people! Grow up for cryin out loud! Got a personal attack you wanna launch, find their personal e-mail and send it direct then you two can slug it out. Leave mediums like this alone so those who agree to "play nice" can continue to do so!

Sheesh...some of you are worse at playing well with others than my 4-yr old!

If you want to take a shot at me, my e-mail is huskerguy_64@yahoo.com. Feel free to gimme your best shot!

Jim and Sean. I agree with 9:07. The blog can be interesting and fun. As Jim Rome says...have a take and don't suck. You can still go strong without being nasty. But the really junior high personal stuff (such as that churned out by Ted Brockman et al) is lame and cruel. Call me old fashioned or old school or worse but haters are haters and don't contribute anything constructive to the discussion of local media.

i tell you what, that Jim Minge, Managing Editor & Sean Weide, Contributor are a real piece of work! :) haha.. just kidding.. but this blog only works because of the comments.. you get rid of the comment section, you might as well cancel the blog... i don't believe in the personal attacks, but if they want to get it off their chest that they hate me.. then let them.. like people really believe what is on the net anyway.. :D haha.. BIG BROTHER is officially here! Welcome to the FCC of the blogs! what next? take away our nude pictures?

I agree with "9:07", with one exception. I really wish everyone would stop playing the "First Amendment" card every time they don't get to say what they want.

The First Amendment really doesn't apply here. In case you hadn't Googled it lately, the 1st Amendment prohibits the federal legislature from making LAWS that restrict freedom of speech.

No one's saying you'll go to jail for calling Farrah Fazal "Fubar". You just might not get to see your comment in print here. It's a privately-run blog, and they can post or NOT post whatever comments they want.

That being said, I agree that a blog with no "personal attacks" is a pretty boring one. To those who would be offended by such comments......don't read blogs.

Thanks for taking the high road Jim. I would imagine that the local media will be more receptive to giving information to you by taking the high road. I read this blog to find out about the personalities and the comings and goings of local news talent and what they are doing and where they are going or where they've been.

On a side note; perhaps you or someone else can help me. Regarding KPTM; who was the first team on that station? I remember John Dobkin and Tom Zenner, but the anchorwoman's name escapes me. I know it was Amy Elizabeth something or other. Anyone, anyone?

Wow...break open the time capsule for that one. Zenner is the only one I even have a vague memory of.

Here are a few story ideas:

What's behind Malorie Maddox taking over subbing from Sheila Brummer on the 6 and 10 pm news? What's Sheila up to these days?

Speaking of subbing anchors, we're now seeing Rachel Pierce weekday mornings. What's up with her new hairdo? Wow, does she look different...

Wherever did Scott Aiken end up?

What can you tell us about Andrea Rich?

How's Mike Sigmond doing in his new line of work?

How about some backgrounders about the new reporters that have recently shown up on air?

Any new news about 102.7 FM in Lincoln moving to the Omaha market?

How about a story on KETV's new weather radar? If it's supposed to be the biggest, baddest radar in the market, why do they rely so much on the National Weather Service radar feed from Valley during their forecasts?

Scott Aiken ended up in Indianapolis.

I think it was Amy Elizabeth Adams. Correct me if I am wrong.
