Norman went to the Reader in 2005 after a stint as the managing editor of the City Weekly newspaper. Norman is a native of Imperial, Neb., and a graduate of the journalism department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

In other Reader news, assistant editor Tessa Jeffers left the newspaper in May.

Did he approve this move with Perrault before leaving?

I will file this under "Who gives a S**T."

Funny...that's where we file ALL of your posts, 12:02...as well as the inevitable follow-up.

While you're at it, Sean, why don't you tell me the next time this guy takes a shit.

...cuz I don't give a crap.

I agree. FUBAR driving her Township off a bridge is a story more deserving of our attention.

THIS JUST IN:

Andy's Mom says her boy will also work part-time at a 7-Eleven while attending grad school.

...and that he sometimes masturbates in bed.

Geez...judging from these comments, I wasn't aware there were that many bitter dishwashers in Omaha.

What the hell is a Reader? Isn't that something to do whilst on the toilet?

Just so everybody knows, I am going to lunch at noon on Monday. I'll be back.

I don't have to use the toliet. I spew my waste and bile through my mouth from 2 to 6 on the radio everyday.

Sincerely,

The Perrault

We join a conversation between Sean & Jim in the early morning of Thursday morning, June 5th alright in progress....

Jim - (in between sips of his Venti low-fat, skinny, decaf, no foam, extra hot, double shot caramel, mocha Frappuccino) "Sean, dude, it's been almost a week since we posted to the website. Got anything? Got any leads?"

Sean - (gulping his 32 oz Mickey D's sweet tea. He's gotta have his tea) "Nadda, man. Got nothing. You?"

Jim - (munching his low fat raspberry, apricot scone) - "Hmmm... well, all the TV stations were growing crazy over the weather on Wednesday night, cutting into programming, the hockey game, etc."

Sean - (bites into his chicken breakfast biscuit. "Nah, nobody cares about that kind of stuff."

Jim - "Well, I got a call the other day from a colleague over at the Reader that some lackey was quitting"

Sean - "Yeah, we could run with that!! Do you know how to make a Breaking News banner that we could splash across the top of our page???"

I can only image if similar conversations occur about 5 minutes before they go on the air with their radio show on Saturday afternoon?

Hey 2:09 -- since you've obviously run out of pans to scour, I've got some dishes in the sink at my apartment you could work on.

You might also take the time to learn how to proofread before offering your next post here. Your first and fourth paragraphs offer glaring indications that you haven't grasped that part of the writing process yet...

Better yet -- just stick to scrubbing...

Thanks 209, I needed that!

Don't be all nasty. I think the fact that two people I never heard of have taken new jobs is important...No, important is not strong enough of a word...more like vital information.

If only I knew how to hire the Goodyear blimp or a sky-writer.

Making minimum wage scouring pans, I don't think you can AFFORD a blimp, can you???

This Just In, Andy Norman Has arrived at his dorm!

Jeff Jenson is no longer at 6. He has already been removed from the website. Anyone know why?

Anonymous said...

Jim and Sean don't even read these comments. Here's proof:

"Frank Brown likes to wear thong underwear and beat off while watching Ernie Chambers' public access tv show." Said Mayor Fahey.

--See how long it takes them to remove this post.

Jeff was a budget cut. Channel 6 is a sinking ship with a bully of a news director who doesn't know what the heck she's doing.. except "assisting" her brother with church donations.

I would like to make an official motion to strip WOWT of their self-proclaimed "Weather Authority" title.

2:30 this morning, I'm woken up by the tornado sirens. I get up, turn on the TV, and there's a Tornado Warning in Omaha. You want to hear how our local "storm teams" reacted?

KETV: Chuck McWilliams, live in the studio providing coverage.

KMTV: Showing "Entertainment Tonight", but they did at least broadcast some kind of weather radio. And they eventually got a meteorologist on the air...Probably after they woke him up. So they were a little bit more on the ball then Channel 6.

WOWT: They were showing "Wild Wild West" through the whole thing!

What does that tell me? KMTV and WOWT weren't expecting these kind of storms. And I won't hold that against them. But in that case you certainly be touting yourself as "The Weather Authority" with "The Heartland's Most Experienced Meteorologist.

Tip of the hat to KETV...And I would be very embarrassed to be over at KMTV and especially WOWT.

Michael Carnes said...

I was awaken by the storm, which considering how hard I sleep was rather unusual, and the first thing I did was check the TV stations for information.

KMTV - nothing
WOWT - absolutely nothing
KPTM - ditto
KETV - live reporting as it happens

And as it turns out, the tornado hit not too far from where I'm located, which helped me tremendously.

Mad props to KETV, the TRUE weather authority in Omaha. They will be the only station I'll watch from here on out when weather breaks.

LOL. They finally woke up Jim Flowers. He showed up on the air around 3:30 this morning...Of course, the tornado warning ended 30 minutes earlier for Omaha.

Hopefully the next tornado will be nice enough to happen between 6pm and 10pm on a weeknight.

Looks like KETV is the ONLY station in town for timely severe weather coverage when it counts. Channel 6 should be embarrassed to be the last on the air live--after the warning expired. At least 3 went on towards the end of the warning. Perhaps Channel 6 could terminate Jim Flowers and invest in someone who can do their job. Their ratings would probably go up, too.

I make fun of KETV sometimes. But they blew the other guys totally out of the water with their coverage of the early morning Tornado warning (oh that rhymes!)

Now I realize forecasting weather is tricky and not an exact science, so I won't point fingers about that. But I definitely see a different tone when it comes to work ethic and a commitment to what they do.

Its one thing to do a weather forecast, cross your fingers, and go home when the newscast is over at 10:30. Its a totally different thing to stick around long after everybody else and keep an eyes on things, just in case things start to go bad.

Its easy to do severe weather coverage at 8:00pm on a Thursday night. 2:30am on a Sunday morning is a totally different story...Great job, KETV!!

While Jim Flowers has been a joke for years!

We tried to listen to the radio after the electricity went out, and it took us quite a bit to find ONE place saying anything about it. Maybe some people want to hear Hannah Montana to drown out those pesky tornado sirens, but I want to know what the hell is going on !

Looks like WOWT is already missing Jeff Jensen!

Ditto for compliments on Chuck McWilliams and KETV's coverage of the storms Sunday AM. I appreciated knowing what was going on while the other TV weatherfaces and apparently storm chasers were caught completely unaware. It sure was easy for them to analyze and talk about the storm after the fact. But Chuck McWilliams did an excellent job getting us storm info as it actually happened while the other weatherfaces from 3, 6, and 42 were either home asleep in their beds (one of them actually admitted that) or just asleep. Oh yeah, I really enjoyed Jim Flowers sputtering, uh-ing and um-ing thru his constant rehash and explanation of what happened during the storm while he was dressing and getting to the studio. Great work, Chuck. Thanks.

When is Flowers leaving for weathercaster school? This is a storm, this is a tornado, this is a pretty pink pansy you can stick in your lapel.

I truely enjoyed Jeff Jensen but he all of a sudden disappeared, no official bye, bye. Poof! I think WOWT is working on building its collection of skeletons in a closet. I have heard from those former employees that its somewhat a bloodbath there. Too bad. Pat Persaud saw the light a long time before these issues. Jim's job has been continuously hampered by re-training "newbies" and I think its a matter of time before he would leave. Weather is a tough thing to call but heck, in this economy, where can you get paid for being wrong MOST of the time?

Imagine my surprise when I turned on my Channel 10 weather the other morning to hear a familiar voice! Welcome, Jeff Jensen. I don't know quite what has happened, but Omaha's loss is our gain. Welcome, Jeff, to our weathercast team!
