News From the NRG Cluster

Spanish Omaha radio station La Bonita (the pretty one) at 1180 AM will become La Preciosa (the precious one) at the end of the month. And on Oct. 1, Jose Munoz, formerly of Spanish station KBBX (97.7 FM), makes his morning show debut on 1180 AM, which is owned by NRG Media.

Also on Oct. 1, NRG’s Power 106.9 FM will debut the “Big Boy’s Neighborhood” as its new morning show. The nationally syndicated show is based in Los Angeles and will replace the locally produced “Hot Boy” show.

Beginning this Thursday, “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” on NRG’s the Zone (1620 AM) will add an extra hour, going from 2-6 p.m. now. Hosted by Kevin Kugler and Mike’L Severe, the show now will go head-to-head for four consecutive hours each weekday against Matt Perrault and Travis Justice on Big Sports 590 AM.

More details on all of the above in this week’s City Weekly newspaper, which hits the stands on Wednesday.

Obviously, NRG had to cut out something to afford the extra hour to pay that 'national talent' Kevin Kugler and 106.9 loses out. Maybe Kugler and Severe can focus on soccer for the Spanish speaking fans and simulcast on 1180 !!!!

Actually, they said on the show today that the reason they are doing it is because they didn't want to carry the new Steven A. Smith show that ESPN is putting on after the new 2 hour Mike Tirico show.

Thanks. I guess Kugler is the lesser of two evils although I wouldn't listen to either.

I'm waiting for a best of TnT afternoon drive on Z. I don't hear enought of them....after all they are awesome dude.

If you are not going to listen to either "Unsportsmanlike Conduct" or the national feed, why would anyone care what you think. Go post on another article. Go back taping the TNT empire and play it on an endless loop in your Dodge Charger.

Nice move. Stephen A. Smith is a blow hard and with the two local sports shows now fully going head to head, there won't be any disputing once the next batch of ratings come out.

Congrats to Kevin and Mike'L for getting their show extended.

See ya Matt Perrault and Travis Justice...don't let forget to turn off the lights when you leave.

Matt's mother must be blogging again.

Thank God (sorry Sen. Chambers) but no Steven A. Smith is a good thing. A very good thing.

Hey Matt, are you nervous yet?

I can get used to Tirico (sorry if spelled wrong) but I would NEVER EVER listen to Steven A SMITH.. how in the hell he got even an hour is beyond me.

I predict they (ESPN) will be losing stations in a big order.

6:14 AM: I think you missed the sarcasm in the TnT comments.

Hey Matthew, did you have to change your underwear yet? Your ratings will further plummet with real competition at 2.

@ 11:39 AM - How does "Perrault kick their ass"? Have we been reading the ratings wrong and the show with the LOWER number is the winner?

Wow...I didn't know that. :-p

Matt and Trav are becoming painful to listen to. Matt is such a freaking New England homer that he loses any credibility every time he starts talking about the Pats, the ChokeSox, etc.

I listen to TNT most mornings on my way to work and actually don't mind Trav. TNT can get a little single minded and at least he is different there.

I would be very worried about the next round of ratings if I were Matt. Trav has enough gigs he does not have to worry.

Jim Minge and Todd n Tyler RULE !!!!

TNT are just an example of how insignificant Omaha Radio, and the radio biz in general has become. Just two overgrown reprobates, whose humor and mental state never progressed beyond sophmore year of high school. Travis fits right in. Back when radio mattered, the only job any of them would have had in the business would have been emptying trash.

Anonymous said...

So don't listen to them. You know there is an off button. Man the things that get people stirred up. Why all the hate toward TnT? What did they ever do to you?

What?...nobody crying for a fresh post? Here it is Thursday, and no post since Monday.

Maybe Mike Cronemeyer needs to change his name again

Ah everybody is down the blog a bit trashing Amanda Mueller. C'mon down. I think we might be having a bonfire and some weinies pretty soon.

I think that if Todd n Tyler were syndicated in every city, they would rule the radio world. Move over Howard Stern!!! These guys are awesome!!

Thanks for mentioning Todd n Tyler again today 7:11 pm. We all appreciate that and would have forgotten about them.

So I'm sure that one extra hour of Unsportsmanlike Conduct broke new ground in Omaha Sports Radio. Kugler and Severe obviously can not find enough time to fit into 3 hours of show so they have to go for the expanded waist band.

One extra hour per day of helium filled voices and bad Callahan impersonators. YAHOO!!!

The funniest thing about T n T is that when they've been asked about Howard Stern, they reply that they've never heard his show. They're practically doing his show but not being funny. Saying they've never heard his show is like Perrault saying he's never heard Vin Scully broadcast a baseball game. Unbelievable. What unbelievable losers. Omaha would be better off without them.

So why are you commenting on it?

Dear 8:19 *cough* Matt Perrault:

Thanks for that comment. So, yesterday when you and Travis are comparing which woman's sport was more athletic, that was good? If the other station had not been killing me with fantasy football crap, I might have turned it. So, good for you and Trav. Yeaaaaa crappy Omaha sports radio.

I did like Petey Mac in studio with Perrault, they seem to have more chemistry than Trav and Matt.

Anonymous said...

7:06 AM

True. Now if we can get Matt from being a homer so often

Anonymous said...

I am 8:19 am and no I do not have a cough nor am I Matt Perrault. T&M and K&M are both equally bad. 4 hours of either "pair" a day is too much for one to have to endure. They should play the stream on-line of either show down at Guantanomo Bay and really torture the terrorists.

Steve A. Smith gets an hour??!!??

So, how many times can you say "However!" during a 60 minute radio show or talk about the NBA non-stop each day, every day.

Its probably a case where he is still under the remaining terms of a contract from his defunct TV show and they got to keep him around.

Whadda say, blog posters? What is the over/under on the Steve A. Smith show? How about 6.5 months?

Anonymous said...

I'll take the under.
