Get Ready for 'Rosey'

If you forked down $29.95 Saturday to watch the Huskers escape the upset against Ball State, you missed Jim Rose's terrific horrific call of the game. But not to worry, he'll have your undivided attention next week when the Nebraska game against Iowa State is not on TV.

What are the Husker "faithful" (as the TV folk so affectionately refer to Nebraska fans) saying this year about Rose? Here is just a sampling of the grumblings about the way he described the action of Saturday's game, courtesy of Huskerpedia's bulletin board.

What did Media Watch think of his call? Put it this way, we know the game was being played at 10th & Vine because Rose told us so at least a half dozen times.

On a related note, Randy York's N-sider column has an interesting look back to the days when nearly every Husker game was not on TV. Particularly intriguing is a comparison of Lyell Bremser's call of Joe Orduna's 67-yard touchdown run in 1970 against USC to TV footage of the play.

Yawn.....This has been going on since back to the days of Lyle and before. Everyone has their favorites and non-favorites.

I actually the broadcast today sounded fine.

Jim Rose wasn't the only one left sounding like a perpetual doofus. KEYV's Todd Andrews in the pregame...they ran a pregame promo from last week, asking a current Husker player Husker Trivia questions. When he said he had no idea who the "triplets" were, Andrew's responded "That's ok. I didn't know who they were either". If he was being funny, he only sounded stupid. If he was being serious....how can you have been raised in Nebraska, work in the media, and NOT know who they are. Doofus.

Getting input on anything from Huskerpedia is a problem.

Why do you hate KFAB Sean?

One thing I can never figure out about Jim's game call is who is his color analyst in the booth with him???

I hear the guy tell us the football technical aspects of the play that just happened.

I wish just once Jim would say his name...

Having been around for the Kent Pavelka, Warren Swain, and Jim Rose eras what you are saying Sean is nothing new.

Husker fans are an interesting breed and instead of focusing on the play of the defense, they focus on Jim Rose saying 10th and Vine. Maybe if the team had played better the play by play would have sounded better.

It comes with the job I guess, but I doubt that any of the naysayers could do any better or take the constant criticism that comes with the job.

I love those comments. "I doubt the naysayers could do any better"

Why would anyone doubt that? It can't be that hard of a job. Many people across the country do it, and do it successfully. It's not like you're deciphering hieroglyphics or something.

After this week's performance and last week's as well, why would anyone want to know what was going on with the Cornsuckers?

Ohhhh Adrian Fiala, the Old Gray Lady on 10th and Vine is awash with red clad fans obviously cheering for Mr. Rudd as we have heard nothing but a chorus of "Ruuuudddd"s today. I'm telling you Aid and Matthew I've never heard this holy shrine of college football every more excited for a team from the Mid American Conference. Wow, it looks like the Cardinals have put the biscuit in the basket again and more cheering for the whole Rudd family is pouring all the way from Larry the Cableguys' skybox to the ol' knot hole section. I'm telling you our five star recruits are really looking good out there today Adrian, they are really taking it to this team who almost upset Miami of Ohio. I'll I know partner is that I thank God and Steve Pederson for the opportunity to breath the same air as Coach Callahan.

Jim Rose is an "Ass Whisperer". Talent did not get him the job.
NU fans are screwed if they want to listen to a home team broadcast. Rose should be doing the play by play at the flower show or underwear convention not football.

$29.95 to Qwest. I bought the game from Qwest, but due to technical difficulties, the game wasn;t available until the second half. They won't refund my money. I had to suffer through the Rose broadcast, and I almost poked out my ear drums to stop the high pitched squeals.

Will Rosey say we're playing Iowa State or Iowa tomorrow? I mean, they're so close together and all...

Oh I know...it'll be Iowa Wesleyan!
