Price On Afternoon Drive on Big O

Matt Price has taken over the afternoon slot on the Big O (101.9 FM). Price will handle the 3-7 p.m. shift on the adult contemporary/rock station.

“Matt has a great delivery on the air with his wit, sense of humor and maturity. He really encompasses what we are trying to accomplish with this radio station in attracting adults 25-54 and appealing to the female listeners,” said Nevin Dane, Big O’s program director.

Price began his radio career a part-time talent for KFOR, KLMS and KRKR in Lincoln from 2001-2003. He co-produced Husker football programming including the “Husker Tailgate Show” and “Average Joe Sports Show.”

  7. Three weeks between updates and you offer this weak a$$ post? Some radio loser changes jobs and this is news? There's all sorts of news out there from layoffs to newsroom makeovers and you feed us radio press releases. god, you are making the point that bloggers are not journalists nor are alt weakly scribblers.

  9. Speaking of the Perrault, what is the deal with afternoon sports guys thinking they need to write a blog? Now Kugler has one too?

News flash, sports guys. Nobody gives a **** about your opinions on the air, let alone OFF the air.

  10. Well, if a new afternoon host means less Phil Collins songs, I'm all for it.

  11. No need to bash on Price. let him do his show .

A BIG week in radio with the Clear Channel merger with Bain,XM/Sirus merger,CBS radio selling 50 stations. I know the CBS deal doesn't affect Omaha, however, its worth discussing along with the two other big stories of the week. Major market CC stations are in 'lock & load' mode looking at high salaries across the board from programming, talent, mgmt, promotions, etc.

  12. Wow...almost three weeks between posts and this is the best you guys can do, with everything that is going on right now in omaha media? It is pretty obvious you guys are not even trying anymore.

  15. The only work that went into this blog entry was copying and pasting it from the email that Minge received from NRG.

  16. Instead of bashing Minge and Sean, let's take this opportunity to have a meaningful discussion about the hard-working Travis Justice.

  18. Thanks Action 3rd, I really needed that "Heat Advisory" Graphic in the corner of the screen to tell me it's hot outside. You suck!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. So, what IS going on at Journal? Why the post asking what's up, is something shaking?

  20. Travis is about to be let go at Inaction News Third, and BS590 is going to replace Perrault with him and engage in a major marketing effort to get him and Omaha on the national stage.

JBG is selling KM 3rd to an as yet unnamed company -- rumor is that the Omaha World-Herald is in serious talks with JBG -- to cut their mounting losses in the Omaha market.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Heck, no, Travis shouldn't go.

  22. I'm glad somebody posted about the heat advisory logo. I was thinking that as well. I was wondering how many people went outside and couldn't figure out why they were so warm after watching stations that did not advise their viewers of that. I was supprised that King Jim did not follow suit with a major logo and crawl, but I guess it was the weekend so he was obviously not in.

  23. First you bash 3 for having one, then you crack on JFlow for not having one and having the audacity to not work on a weekend. No wonder people say this blog blows.

  26. I saw a picture the other day that had a guy with a pornstache and it said " I challenge you to a mustache duel", I instantly thought of Flowers.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sadly, the moustache media market in Omaha is lacking. Flowers is king. I vote that Bonkowitz should bust out the pornstache and be his first challenger.

  28. Journal is looking for Operartions manager and Z-92 Program director..Busy times over there....

  29. While they're at it, they should look for Perrault's replacement. Maybe they could find somebody with a local connection who can talk local sports and not mentally masturbate over the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and -- if they ever get good again -- Bruins. Nobody in the Midwest with a brain gives a rat's ass about Boston sports.

  30. Boston is the only thing that matters.

Since I am from Boston, sort of, I am the only thing that matters since only I can bring you Boston news 24/7. You know want it, you know you need it.

    Sincerely,

    The Perrault

  31. Your days are numbered, Perrault. I am already seeing to that. The waste of radio time talking Boston sports in Omaha is soon to be a thing of the past.

That's because I OWN you, and I am going to have you shipped off to foreign lands -- maybe back to Alabama -- in a very short time.

Say goodbye to the fraud that is Perrault. And you can thank me for getting the job done.

    Who am I? Simple...I am...

In the immortal words from the band "Boston" get out of town now and "Don't Look Back".

  33. Omaha has to be the most tired, boring, predictable radio market in the country. Does Omaha really need yet another "classic (white) rock" station (the "Big O")? I was in Des Moines over the weekend and they have both a "quality rock adult alternative" and also a classic R&B station. The other "new" station in Omaha is 102.7 which seems to be another awful automated lite hits format with a bit of smooth jazz thrown in (I'd rather hear smooth jazz with a blend of classic R&B). Even our oldies channel (99.9) is tired--playing the same 50 songs over and over. Des Moines's KIOA plays a much better mix of oldies.

  34. I lack in originality so much that I had to copy the style The Perrault was using. I repeat the same stuff, over and over and over.

  37. The omaha market will probally have a big shake up when pappas sells off their stations. I wouldnt doubt he will get into radio instead. KMTV should be owned in a douply with either KXVO or KPTM.

    ReplyDelete
  38. All the rock sucks in omaha becasue no company wants to be known as the one that killed off "the indepent" the river. Its good for the economy and local music scene even on a national level. Its not good for bussiness so all the other companies take the safe approach. It is no secret at all that Iowa western community college wants to dump the river and turn it into Iowa public radio and they have tried several times to pull the plug. When it happnes no commerical radio station will want to play unsinged artists and omaha could loose alot of its edge in local music.
