Malorie Maddox, weekday morning news anchor at WOWT-6, topped Brandi Petersen of KETV-7 in the third annual "Hottest Newswoman of the Year" call-in poll on "The Big Show with Matt Perrault" on KXSP (590 AM).In voting on Monday's program, Maddox narrowly edged out Petersen, who was the winner of the 2006 contest. Maddox won in 2005 and later appeared on the show to accept her prizes, something Petersen did not the following year (at the request of KETV management).
Maddox recently won the NebraskaInfoWomen Yahoo! Group poll, which asked which Omaha TV weekday morning female anchor did the best job.

ReplyDeleteMalorie Maddox is very pretty, and a fine anchor. (She is made even more attractive because Channel 6 has paired her with Jim Sidlecki, who has a face for radio.) And, of course Maddox does the best job of the Morning Show female anchors. I mean, look at the competition. KETV's Elictia Hammond's delivery is that of a clueless beauty queen who isn't THAT beautiful, and Terri Stowell over at "the action news station" doesn't have much personality at all.
Meanwhile, back at Channel 6...too bad the rest of their morning show sucks for air. Right now, Malorie is very charming and personable, but just wait--Channel 6 has a knack for dulling down all of their anchors and reporters. Just look what they did to the once-perky, personable Tracy Madden. Evolution to snoozeville complete (just like the rest of the on-air "talent" at 6).
As for Brandi Petersen over at KETV...she's a definite up-and-comer. Youthful, energetic, decent anchor and a damn good reporter (Malorie Maddox is only average in the field, which is better than most of her fellow reporters at WOWT.) You can tell that Brandi Petersen is being groomed to become the next main co-anchor at KETV. (If Channel 6 follows their regular routine, Malorie will be stuck on mornings or weekends forever...or until she is snatched up by a bigger market.)
The characteristic that both Malorie Maddox and Brandi Petersen have in common is that they are both genuinely nice, professional people who deserve to go far.

Malorie Maddox is attractive and I'm sure she does a fine job on her Daybreak show. But I simply cannot watch it. That Jim Siedlecki that they sit her with is awful. He is unfathomably unwatchable.

"I will never talk about Channel 7 on this show ever again," Perrault told listeners on KXSP (590 AM). "I'm boycotting Channel 7. We will not have KETV people on, we will not mention them and I'm still deciding whether they will be a part of the competition next year."
The "competition" Perrault referred to was his "Hottest Local News Chick of 2006" contest that "KETV First News Weekend" co-anchor Brandi Petersen won on Dec. 22."

Sadly, I am NOT Ted Brockman. But if I were, I would eviscerate 590-am and that pathetic excuse for a radio host of the so-called "big show." Since I am not, I will only say that Mr. Perrault should not be expected to impress anyone or exhibit any amount of class. He works for one of the lowest-rated stations in town. Oh, and Matt...you needn't worry about who will or won't be a part of the Hottest Local News Chick contest next year. Rumor is that there won't be a Big Sports 590 by then anyway. Hope your resume and air-check is up to date.

ReplyDeleteBut the hands down least watchable newscast is the KETV evening news on the weekends. Farah Fazal, John Campbell and Matt Schick? Has there ever been that much "ick" in an anchor team?
Oh please! Fazal and team are not nearly as repulsive as Devon "Lockjaw" Patton over at KMTV or as boring as the sleepfest at WOWT. Let's face it: Omaha isn't a market chock full of attractive on-air personalities. There are a few, but most are average to fugly.

Be careful what you wish for!!
If you push out Julie and insert Brandi, you'll radically change the age mix of the anchors. Age-wise, Brandi's going to look like a high schooler next to Rob, Bill, and Scheutz.
So do you then "Schraeder" them too? If so, we'll end up watching the new anchor team of Brandi, Todd Andrews, Matt Schick, and John Campbell (sorry, even Chuck McW is getting to old to look perky next to Brandi).

Hey 12:42, don't kid yourself - one listen to Perrault's show sticks with you for a long time...there are a lot of people who have been permanently turned off by radio in general after one listen to his abortion of a program.

ReplyDeleteDuring the newscast they said they were making changes but they were not very specific. The re-open had Rob, Brandi, Bill and Matt so i guess that is the new Sunday anchor team, I don't know what is happening the rest of the week.

ReplyDeleteBrandi, Rob, Bill, and Schick on Sunday nights. Brandi will anchor Sunday's early newscast. Then Monday-Thursday, Brandi and Julie will co-anchor the 5:00 and Julie and Rob will do the 6:00 and 10:00. On Fridays, Julie will anchor the 5,6, and 10 by herself. Apparently Nichole Berlie will anchor the weekend mornings with Todd Andrews. That's a lot of changes. I don't know how two female anchors will go over at 5:00.
Farrah will still anchor Saturdays.
