Becka’s Book Ready For Pre-Order

KFAB talk show host Tom Becka’s first book aims at helping sales people make the big deals by using the skills of an entertainer.

Becka, who was a nationally touring standup comedian before getting into radio, is currently taking pre-orders for “There’s No Business Without the Show: Using Showbiz Skills to Get Blockbuster Sales!” at his Web site, TomBecka.com.

The book, published by Orpheum Brothers Press, is selling for $21.95 and is available for delivery by June 1.

Says David Cottrell, best-selling author of “Monday Morning Leadership” and “Monday Morning Choices”: “Becka gives a stunning performance in this book! It is unique, entertaining and effective as it provides you the trade secrets to give the sales performance of your life. Bravo!”

Becka, host of a weekday show on KFAB (1110 AM) from 4 to 7 p.m., says: “The same techniques that big name performers use to create a following can be used by successful salespeople for blockbuster results.”

Is the preface written by Perrault? If not, then the book isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

no, but in the middle of it, there are pictures of wrestling gods...

There is no business without "The Big Show!"

Then again, the "Big Show" doesn't draw much business...like my fellow Journal Broadcasting partners.

Sincerely,

The Perrault

I like Tom. I'm a pbl.

But those stars on the cover make it look cheeeeezzzzzyyyyy.

You know, all the Perrault crap, as a comment to every post is old, tired and annoying. It's not funny and franky, its alost a reason not to read the once witty and smart comments......please go away

Anonymous said...

Thanks that was a long time coming, whoever the jerk off that does the Matt posting should just go jerk off and leave the rest of the psoting to those who have something to say/write.

Could you imagine the stutter/mumble fest it would be if Tom Becka had Tom Shatel on his show for an interview?

Anonymous said...

Yeah - lay off my fellow Dungeons and Dragons pal Matt.

Nerdy high school freak

Isn't it about time for another TnT press release (errr blog entry) to be written by Jim?

Anonymous said...

Fine. We'll start something fresh.

Anonymous is gay.

Anonymous said...

Becka was in sales? If he got out of sales to go on air, how good can this book possibly be? Usually people in radio go into sales because they can't hack it on the air.

Anonymous said...

Matt Perrault is Gay.

7:09 and 7:29 - Looks like Becka is reading this blog again. 'Wait, wait, don't move the spotlight off me.'

Talk about taking this thing WAY too seriously. And such courage on his/their part, responding to anonymous posts with their own anonymous rants. Smooth.

Anonymous said...

6:26, slamming the anonymous anonymously...way to step up. You call me smooth? Im done here.

Anonymous said...

Once again, the irony missed by 6:47 AM in his/her comments back to 6:26 AM.

Now, back to the important ta-ta talk.

That'll annoy 'em, another double post. Rock on!

Allow me to set the record straight.

I quit sales to go on the road as a stand up comic. it wasn't about the money it was about the experience. I spent five years making my living in a very difficult profession. When I got tired of the road I moved back to Omaha and got back on the air. I've been doing this for over 13 years and have seen countless others come and go during that time.

I am constantly working with my sales staff to help sell the station. I am constantly selling myself to my audience and advertisers.

I do promote myself. It's part of my job. I make no apologies for that.

So I have been on the road, on the air, selling on the streets, and now I'm going to be on the bookshelves.

What have you done besides get on a blog to slam Matt Perrault?

Tom Becka. Man. Myth. Legend.

Anonymous said...

Tom, maybe your show would be better if you talked about wrestling. ;-)

Maybe you did in your book. I will go and read it to find out.

Keep up the fine work and I will continue to listen. I don't have a book, but if I did, you would be aces in it.

Please bring Chris Baker back.

Anonymous said...

You all never fail to make me laugh.

But, I think all of the anon's should at least take the time to make up a name. I'm just saying it would be easier for me to understand which anonymous is talking to the other, and using time stamps as references confuses me more because like, then I have to go back and look.

Anonymous said...

Okay, how's this for an anon name? :-)

Basically all you've missed is that Perrault is Gay, a couple of humorless anon's think he should stop being picked on and have given up on the blog (WOO HOO), not sure if Becka has any of the anon's, and Becka also got bent when someone took the long way around to call him a hack. He also doesn't seem to think picking on Matty P. is very original (it isn't, but it's still funny).

And someone thinks Chris Baker should come back, which isn't a bad idea. Only one wrestling reference, the anti-Fahey folks have disappeared like Baylor football fans in October and, surprisingly, there has been no ta-ta talk on this string.

This was a good idea, I might hang on to this faux handle.

Anonymous said...

No ta ta talk?

Here's some to talk about...

Erin Andrews

Mmmmmmm.....tasty....

Anonymous said...

Well damn, maybe you could just email me a summary of the comments every day ! That would require even less effort on my part making me very happy.

And I think your faux handle is a fine one.

Anonymous said...

Glad you enjoyed it, I will make an effort to do that as often as possible. I'm sure you noticed ta ta talk has been added. I can't help it, I still all that sophomoric stuff is still funny.

Ta Ta for now!

Anonymous said...

Hey don't let me stop ya, ta-ta's are great conversation I suppose, and sophomoric is the state of mind I live in most of my free time.

Hey 8:09 AM,

No matter how Concierge Marketing and Ms. Pietro spin it, IT IS self publishing and you will BE on the bookshelf, but mostly for novelty and local interest.

By the way, the drive time Tom Becka show has turned me into a KIOS listner now, ya hear?

Anonymous said...

How about my tata's?

Anonymous said...

Damn it Tom, quit trying to take away my spotlight! I am the god of this blog, not you!

And to the people trying to move the subject matter away from me...poo poo on you!

I am a rock star baby. I am the talk of the town (anybody use that phrase here yet?) I am the king and you are my serfs.

Live with it and learn to love it.

I am...
The Perrault

I just took a Perrault this morning...took half a roll of toilet paper to clean up afterward...

Anonymous said...

Get over to the Geiler blog and protect your turf and serfs. Some people think hacking away at you is a waste of their time, and they also seem to think they're superior to you by chopping up your minions. Please come and save the day, your heinous.

To 8:23 a.m.

Did you do a Travis Justice as well? Just curious.

Sincerely,

Another tool with a superiority complex, lovely.

I think I'd like Otis 12's book better. Sales guys writing books is a lot like sitting through a MLM meeting.

Anonymous said...

Keegan,

Thank you. These morons on this site should understand that we are here to talk about the real issues of the day. The things that matter most. The ONLY thing that matters.

Me.

Sincerely,

The Perrault

Sometimes it's hard to have a good Perrault without a good diuertic. So eat a big bowl of raisin bran and it will flush that Perrault right out of your system and keep you regular.

Anonymous said...

Really, Tom? You just pulled the "What have you done with your life" card? I can tell you what I have NOT done. I have not fisted my nephew over the radio for thousands of residents and all his classmates to hear. But, so long as you get your ratings, all is cool, right? Thus, you can take your "sell your soul....and anyone close to you" attitude and think you have accomplished a lot.

Anonymous said...

Make sure you check out the two ahead of this, OUCH.

Anonymous said...

Thank You 7:01

Anonymous said...

I'd be more inclined to listen to Tom Becka more often if he could do two things:

-- Stop interrupting people five seconds into their comments

-- Stop stuttering 15 times per sentence

"Please bring Chris Baker back."

Revel in the true pure unadulterated entertainment of Chris.

Listen via the Web!!!!

http://www.ktlkfm.com/pages/chrisbaker.html

7am to 11 am

He takes phone calls, males commentary, covers some "radical" issues and unlike the brain-dead conservative Omaha area media Chris is allowed to speak with more freedom than the local puritans.

Sorry, Becka... your show is okay but, maybe due to the local censorship, Chris Baker rocks while you can merely roll.

HEY!!!!!! A way to raise money for charity!!!! A "roll race." May the most rotund one win!!!!

A battle of the bellys.

Navel warfare!!!!!

Roll down the hill at Memorial Park.

Winner selects where 80 percent of the donated funds goes and the loser the other 20 percent.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Becka..... you BUM!!!!

Love,

Obbop

Baker is a bigger douche than Becka.

Anonymous said...

C'mon. Leave Becka alone. Let him do his gig. Chris Baker by the way is the BEST thing to happen to the 100.3 freq-Mpls since Howard Sterns debut (syndication) in 1997. CC/Mpls AEs may be able to finally sell this station properly.

Anonymous said...

Baker is the best douche then.
