KMTV-3 – Omaha's CBS affiliate – has apparently fired News Director Ken Dudzik. The receptionist at KMTV today (Sept. 19) said, "He no longer works here." ReplyDeleteThat's about the only way they could keep Travis from going to Bristol. Just put him in charge, it's way overdue. This might force the boys at the worldwide leader in sports to make a better offer. The radio/TV combo still seems to make the most sense.

ReplyDeleteThis is kind of like the end of the Mary Tyler Moore Show when all of the competent news people were fired Mary Richards, Lou Grant (aka Deb Ward, Greg Peterson) and the only one that keeps their job is Ted Baxter (aka Travis Justice). That's life in the minor leagues fellas.

ReplyDeleteThis just in from the ratings war....KXSP (aka Big Sports 590) is claiming a ratings VICTORY as they have wrestled 19th place in the Omaha market ratings away from KMA in Shenendoah in the latest trends! Expect a glowing press release on this one Jim on your email.........can't wait to hear the new promos on THAT ONE!

ReplyDeleteAt this point, KMTV would be better off if they just got rid of their local news operation. KNDL, St. Louis' ABC affiliate doesn't have a regular local newscast; nor does WWJ-TV, Detroit's CBS station. And both are in larger markets. Being an avid local news watcher, it pains me to suggest this, but it would be much less costly for JBG to just pull the plug on this patient than to continue providing life support for KoMaTV-3. If only there were ANY hope that Channel 3 could somehow come back to life. I just don't see it happening.

ReplyDeleteI'm shocked and awed that Perrault hasn't commented that somebody called him out on his ratings...usually he cries, pisses and moans when people tell other people the truth. Especially if it is not his version of the truth.
